Whether you’re a novice preparing for your first hunt or a veteran trying to get organized, you can use our checklist to keep your preparation on target.
PREPARING FOR THE HUNT:
  • Licenses and applicable tags for the area and species you’re hunting
  • Scent control on clothing and person
  • Practice shooting (bow and gun)
  • Ammo/arrows/broadheads
  • Charged or full batteries for flashlights, phones, rangefinders
  • Clothing appropriate for the weather
  • Field dressing equipment (knives, gloves, wipes)
ON THE HUNT:
  • 2-way radios, cell phone, GPS
  • Ammo/arrows/broadheads
  • Attraction scents (where applicable)
  • Backpack
  • Binoculars
  • Blaze orange vest and hat for big game firearms seasons
  • Blinds
  • Calls (relevant to the species being hunted)
  • Field dressing equipment
  • Scent reduction spray
  • Weather appropriate clothing and footwear (rain, snow, cold, warm clothing)
AFTER THE HUNT:
  • Field dressing equipment (knives, gloves)
  • Hunter reporting (mandatory in Ontario at the end of the season or after done hunting that species for the season)
  • Rope or cart for game retrieval
